Room of the Month June 2009  Once Upon a House Raissa Mosher 1. Raissa Mosher, Once Upon A House. I have a Bachelor of Science in Textiles, Merchandising and Design. Services include full scale interior decorating, color consultation, decorative painting and furniture refinishing and/or painting. The art, which is from the Black Apple shop at etsy.com, was a major inspiration for the room. My daughter instantly fell in love with these adorable girls and their equally enchanting animals... and away we went. The raspberry wall color is Benjamin Moore Deco Rose. The white is Sherwin Williams Pure White. The furniture was purchased as a set on craigslist for $75! It was mahogany beyond repair. I primed it, painted it white, rubbed on the Sherwin Williams Cay (paint color), let that dry, then sanded it, then dry brushed some more of the blue... the pulls were metal which I spray painted white and sanded. The vanity stool was purchased at a yard sale, I spray painted it white and recovered the seat as well as added the same ruffle trim that we did on the sconce shades to tie the elements together. The little pillow on the vanity stool has a touch of the raspberry sconce shade fabric, too! The vintage milk glass and eyelet coverlet belonged to Marisa's grandmother. The window treatments echo the eyelet in the coverlet and show off the new window trim that was added along with crown molding. I love how unexpected these elements are with the edgy artwork. The combination of vintage and modern came together beautifully. She loves it!
