Baby Mobile
Ryan Wolthuis
I had the idea of creating a mobile to hang over the crib, and in the months before her birth, collected various fallen leaves from trees in our yard and others from Google images. These were used as inspiration for the mobile. The leaves used are - aspen, maple, gingkgo, oak, horse chestnut and an acorn for fun.   Different wood species were used to make the leaf shapes - hard rock maple, white oak and black walnut. The leaves were suspended from a sanded and stained branch from a dead tree that I removed from my yard. I used some beautiful crimson colored wool to hang the leaves down from the branch. The finishing touch "To Piper, all my love. daddy" was engraved with a wood burner.
